GENERAL INFORMATION

What is the best time of the year for fishing?

Slovenia is one of the few countries in Europe where fishing can be done year-round. Depending on the species you are after, you may need to come in deferent seasons. For example, marble trout season opens on April 1st and ends at the end of October.

Huchen season opens on the first of October, and some river systems as late as 1st of December (Sava Bohinjka). The huchen season ends on the 15th of February on all rivers.

Brown trout and Rainbow trout open on the 1st of march and the season ends in October/November.

Pike and grayling fishing is best in May and June and late autumn.
